(Brown County, Wis.) – Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach’s 2021 budget proposal is calling for more than $21,000 to invest in faster response times to homes and businesses when an alarm is triggered.

“One of my top priorities in crafting a budget plan for Brown County is investing in more efficient ways to provide services for the public,” says Streckenbach. “This particular investment not only will reduce response times to improve safety for people and their homes but does so in an economical way.”

The Brown County Public Safety Communications (PSC) center has set aside money to purchase a new interface allowing direct access from those residential alarms to the 911 center. Currently, when alarms go off in a person’s home or business, the alarm must first go to the alarm company, and the alarm company then must call 911 to relay that information.

“By installing this new interface with dollars already allocated through the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) project, we are able to cut down on response times and the possibilities for human error on either side to send resources to the wrong location,” says Cullen Peltier, Director of Brown County Public Safety Communications.
