The Joint Finance Committee would be able to transfer up to $75 million from sum sufficient appropriations during the current public health emergency under a new version of the COVID-19 bill released today.
That is three times what GOP leaders had previously proposed allowing JFC to transfer from those funds. Still, the proposed bill would no longer give JFC sweeping powers to cut state spending as previously considered.
Under the proposal, transferred funds would be used to cover expenses related to the public health emergency.
