Last night on CNN, Democratic Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers denounced the state Supreme Court’s decision to strike down his stay at home order. The ruling immediately ended Gov. Evers’ requirements for residents to stay “safer at home,” resulting in crowds of people descending into bars and restaurants.

Gov. Evers said: “Today, absolutely, Wisconsin Republican legislators and those four Supreme Court justices decided that facts don’t matter, statutes don’t matter, and frankly, it puts our state into chaos.”

The harmful lawsuit from Wisconsin Republican legislators is out of line with public opinion in the state. A recent Marquette University poll showed 69% of Wisconsin voters support Evers’ stay at home order, including nearly half of GOP voters. If businesses reopen without social distancing measures and residents venture out against the advice of public health officials, Gov. Evers warned there could be unnecessary deaths.
