Daniel Kelly today released his first TV ad of the general election that portrays him as the kind of justice the voters ordered.

The campaign said it was a $500,000 buy that will run through the April 7 election on broadcast and cable in the Milwaukee, Green Bay, Wausau, La Crosse and Madison markets.

The spot is in a diner and shows a waitress asking two men what they want. One says a judge that “protects the public and stands up for our freedoms” before the waitress tells him he wants Kelly on the Supreme Court.

The customer says Kelly “follows the law, instead of making it up,” while the second says he’s “tough, fair, honors the constitution.”

The waitress says they both want to keep Kelly on the court before looking down the counter and asking Kelly, dressed in a judge’s robe, what he’d like.

“Sounds good to me,” he says.

Kelly faces Dane County Judge Jill Karofsky in the April 7 election. Last week, she announced a $1.1 million TV buy through the election.
