Milwaukee, Dec. 2, 2020 – Lawrence Maayan, MD, is joining the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW)-Green Bay as the new psychiatry residency training director of the North East Wisconsin program based at the Milo Huempfner VA in Green Bay. Dr. Maayan began this Oct.1, 2020, replacing Robert Gouthro, MD, who had served as director since the training program opened in 2014.

Prior to coming to MCW, Dr. Maayan held professorships at Albany Medical College and the Nathan Klein Institute for Psychiatric Research at New York University School of Medicine. He is board certified in general and child psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His accomplishments reveal a strong history of research, significant experience as an educator and clinician, and in leadership.

This past year, Dr. Maayan has served as co-director of the child psychiatry fellows’ psychopharmacology course at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia this past. He also developed a new clinical rotation for child psychiatry fellows and managed and supervised the clinical rotation for child and adolescent psychiatry fellows at New York University School of Medicine, and supervised and taught child psychiatry fellows, psychiatry residents and medical students at Columbia University in the New York State Psychiatric Institute. There, he also directed and managed an inpatient unit. Prior, Dr. Maayan managed an inpatient child psychiatry unit and taught and supervised medical students, psychology trainees and child psychiatry fellows at the Yale Child Study Center.
