Appleton, WI — Newly declared U.S. Senate candidate Tom Nelson issued this statement after the vote to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court:
“By voting to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, Ron Johnson put loyalty to Donald Trump and his failed COVID response before every single woman, man and child in Wisconsin, which is why I decided not to wait until after the election to start holding him accountable.
Everything is on the line with Donald Trump in the White House and Ron Johnson in a Senate run by Republican extremists packing our highest courts. Trump Republicans are attacking a woman’s right to choose, the Affordable Care Act, labor rights, environmental protections and above all, the right to vote.
Next Tuesday the voters will have the final say and we will beat Donald Trump and not only elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, but also Democrats up and down the ballot. When our work in 2020 is done and Trump is sent packing back to his golf resorts, we have already put politicians like Ron Johnson on notice with a simple message: you’re next.”
