Madison, WI – Republicans forced in-person voting during a statewide lockdown, and now 19 Wisconsinites have contracted coronavirus as a result. In response, NextGen Wisconsin is taking concrete steps to protect residents’ right to vote safely.

“The public health consequences of blocking mail-in and absentee voting during a global pandemic are life or death. Young people should be able to vote without risking their lives,” said NextGen Wisconsin State Director Christina Carvalho. “The stakes couldn’t be higher. We must establish universal mail-in voting for future elections.”

NextGen Wisconsin recently held a digital town hall on universal vote-by-mail and started a petition to expand vote-by-mail access through November. The state’s largest youth voter outreach group will continue to promote just and safe elections throughout its summer program.
