MOUNT HOREB, Wi – Representative Sondy Pope (D-Mt. Horeb), the incumbent running for re-election to again represent Wisconsin’s 80th Assembly District announced her endorsement from Governor Tony Evers:

“I’ve known Sondy for 20 years, and she’s been a critical partner in the fight for our public schools and public education. Her appreciation for Wisconsin’s educators is unmatched, and I know she works every day to ensure students have the opportunities they deserve to reach their potential as life-long learners and successful citizens. Sondy is a strong leader in the legislature, always fighting for what’s important to our state’s kids and their futures. I’m proud to support Sondy in her re-election.” – Governor Tony Evers

As former Chair of the Assembly Committee on Education, and current Ranking Member, Representative Pope worked closely with Governor Evers during his service as State Superintendent. Together, they’ve pushed for key funding changes to K-12 Education that would restore the state’s commitment to 2/3rds funding, direct more aid to areas affected by poverty, and increase the special education reimbursement rate. In response to this endorsement Rep. Pope release the following statement:

“Even before he became Governor, Tony Evers has always prioritized the future of our state by prioritizing our children and their educations. It is an honor to have the opportunity to continue this work with the governor. His endorsement means a great deal to me, and I look forward to what we can achieve together to move Wisconsin forward.”
