Madison… State Senator-elect Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) released the following statement after being appointed to the Joint Committee on Finance.

“I’m honored to be named as a member of the Joint Finance Committee. The faith and trust placed in me is a great responsibility and one I do not take lightly.

“Over my time in the legislature, I’ve had the opportunity to dive deep into many issues that receive state support, and I’m eager to put what I’ve learned over my tenure to work in this new capacity. As we are all aware, the upcoming state budget will face new and mounting challenges. I’m ready to get to work ensuring that Wisconsin’s finances are on solid ground so we can maintain the basic functions of good government today and in the future.

“I’d like to thank Majority Leader LeMahieu for this appointment. I look forward to working with Co-Chair Marklein and my senate colleagues on the upcoming state budget.”

Ballweg is the current state representative for the 41st Assembly District and is senator-elect for the 14th Senate District. The senate district is located in central Wisconsin, and is composed of parts of Adams, Columbia, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Marquette, Outagamie, Waupaca, and Waushara counties.
