Madison, WI – State Representative Cindi Duchow (R-Delafield) issued the following statement in response to Governor Evers’ announcement of Emergency Order #31, referred to as the “Badger Bounce Back” plan to reopen the Wisconsin economy:

“While I am thankful that Governor Evers finally released his plan to reopen Wisconsin’s economy, I am disappointed to say this is not the plan Wisconsinites need or deserve. The citizens of this state have been patiently waiting for a light at the end of the tunnel and with his “Badger Bounce Back” plan, Governor Evers has failed to provide that for them.

“This plan requires the capability to produce 85,000 tests per week, and Governor Evers has yet to provide estimates on when he believes Wisconsin will be able to reach this benchmark. The months it may take to achieve these testing capabilities will result in closed businesses and struggling families.

“Small business can open while following safe distancing guidelines and other necessary precautions, just as essential business are doing now. Our hospitals and doctor’s offices need to reopen so people can get the medical care they need. Putting off routine procedures and checkups will only lead to bigger problems in the future.

“I call on the governor to produce a plan that protects the economic well-being of Wisconsin without endangering the physical health of its citizens.”
