(Sun Prairie) – Today, Governor Evers announced a statewide mask mandate aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19 following a recent rise in cases and hospitalizations in Wisconsin. Representative Hebl (D-Sun Prairie) released the following statement in response:

“This is the right call by Governor Evers,” Hebl said. “COVID-19 has impacted every corner of Wisconsin and every aspect of our lives. A statewide mask mandate will keep people safe and keep our economy open.”

Individual actions like wearing a mask, good hand hygiene, and practicing social distancing can dramatically decrease the spread of COVID-19.

“The vast majority of Americans support mask mandates because they understand that everyone must do their part to help stop this pandemic. If we want to keep businesses open and maintain the hope of in-person school this year, everyone should comply with this order.”

Wisconsin is now one of 31 states and the District of Columbia that have implemented a mask mandate. According to a recent analysis, transmissions are reduced by at least thirty percent if 95% of people wear cloth masks while interacting with other people.
