MADISON – Assembly Assistant Democratic Leader Representative Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) released the following statement on Senator Fred Risser’s decision not to seek re-election:
“Senator Fred Risser is a testament to the strength of Wisconsin. For 64 distinguished years, Senator Risser has provided an unmatched knowledge of Wisconsin’s institutions and unparalleled service to constituents across Dane County. Senator Risser has always been optimistic about the future of our state. His accomplished career exemplifies the perseverance of progressivism in Wisconsin.
“Senator Risser was instrumental in the passage of the smoking bans and smoke-free laws in Wisconsin. Throughout my time on the Dane County Board, Senator Risser was diligent in staying connected with me on these issues, knowing the importance of the work of government for the people. I have nothing but praise for his chairmanship on the State Capitol and Executive Residence Board when we served together. I wish him the best in his retirement and I commend his incredible service to Wisconsin.”
