MADISON – This week, Rep. Greta Neubauer (D-Racine) joined legislative colleagues in a letter to Republican leadership in the Assembly and Senate, calling on Speaker Vos and Majority Leader Fitzgerald to immediately convene the legislature to address the many challenges facing Wisconsin due to the COVID-19 crisis.

The letter lays out a robust series of proposals that would give relief to Wisconsin families, workers, and businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, including provisions on health care, unemployment insurance, housing, education, elections, and more. Rep. Neubauer released the following statement emphasizing the urgent need for the legislature to convene:

“Wisconsinites can’t wait. Our community, and communities across our state, are already feeling the impacts of COVID-19. While the Governor has taken executive action where possible to help Wisconsin families and businesses get through these difficult times, the legislature must meet to address this unprecedented public health and economic crisis.

“The people of Wisconsin want to see their elected officials working together to do everything possible to manage this crisis and provide support for those whose lives have been negatively impacted. We cannot afford to drag our feet in addressing COVID-19,” Neubauer continued. “Wisconsin families, workers, and small businesses urgently need our support. We must act now.”
