MADISON – Today, Governor Evers called on the Legislature to convene a Special Session to address the threat of COVID-19 to the April 7, 2020 election, including moving to an all-mail election and postponing the election’s end date into May 2020. This session would take place at 4:00 on Saturday, April 4, 2020. Rep. Greta Neubauer released the following statement in support:

“Over the last several weeks, I have repeatedly shared my concerns that an in-person election on April 7th poses an unreasonable risk to the health and safety of our community. We cannot hold in-person voting if we cannot guarantee the safety of voters and poll workers. I have called for immediate legislative action to address COVID-19 and surrounding issues for our state, and I am glad the Governor is calling us into session tomorrow to take action.

“I’m ready to act for the people of Racine and the people of Wisconsin,” Neubauer said. “We cannot continue to watch and wait when the health of our families, friends, and neighbors is at risk. I am calling on Speaker Vos to convene the Assembly tomorrow to provide every voter the opportunity to safely cast their ballot and participate in our democracy.”
