Madison–State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette), Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Finance released the following statement:

“I urge Governor Evers to provide more transparency and specifics for Wisconsinites regarding his shelter in place order,” said Rep. Nygren. “Since learning of the order, I have received numerous phone calls from businesses in my district who are uncertain of their future which is now turning into fear.”

“In these unprecedented times, it’s crucial that the business owners who employ thousands
across the state have clear expectations and guidelines to follow”, said Rep. Nygren. “Going into the weekend these employers had the understanding that an order like this would not be given by Governor Evers. Now, as they think about today’s workday, they are unsure if they will be able to conduct business. More importantly, many families around the state have gone to bed not knowing if they have a paycheck in the morning.”

“With that said, we all need to continue to practice good hygiene and take precautions to limit the spread and exposure of COVID-19,” said Rep. Nygren. “Additionally, I’d like to extend a hand to help Governor Evers in this effort. Together we are stronger. Finally, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our healthcare community and all other individuals who are doing an exceptional job of providing for our state!”
