Lodi, WI… Rep. Jon Plumer (R-Lodi) has released the following statement regarding the retirement of Sen. Luther Olsen (R-Ripon) and his future plans:

“First, I would like to congratulate Senator Olsen on his 26 years in the Legislature and on his retirement. Sen. Olsen has served our area well in both the State Assembly and Senate, fighting for some of Wisconsin’s biggest reforms in recent history. I truly appreciate his commitment to public service and I wish him and his wife Joan a wonderful, relaxing retirement.

“That being said, after talking with my family, I have decided that I will not be running to replace Senator Olsen in the 14th Senate District. Everyone says this when this situation comes up, but it truly is humbling receiving texts and phone calls from friends and colleagues from around the state encouraging me to run. I appreciate every single conversation I had and do not take them lightly. However, I believe that I have more work to do in the State Assembly, on the Committee on Substance Abuse & Prevention, and other projects.

“Throughout the spring and summer, I will be connecting with voters around the 42nd Assembly District as I seek another term in the State Assembly. I also look forward to ensuring that the 14th Senate District is represented by a Republican next session.”
