MADISON– Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) released the following statement announcing an endorsement from Ananda Mirilli for her candidacy for Wisconsin’s 16th Senate District:

“Today I am excited to share an endorsement from Ananda Mirilli,” said Sargent. “Ananda has been a great advocate for making our schools a safer, fairer place.”

Ananda Mirlli is a member of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), representing Seat 5. She serves as an Education Equity Consultant at the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Prior to this, Mirilli worked as the Family and Community Engagement Coordinator at MMSD as well as the Restorative Justice Director at YMCA Madison. Mirilli’s life and work has been dedicated to helping address the achievement and opportunity gap, as well as school safety.

“As the mom of four boys and a proud graduate of Madison’s public schools herself, Melissa recognizes that public education is at the heart of our communities,” said Mirilli. “She has been and will continue to be a fierce proponent of public education, and will continue to be a loud voice for students and teachers in the 16th Senate District.”

“I am very proud to be receiving this endorsement from Ananda,” said Sargent. “Her thoughtfulness and guidance has been a tremendous asset to our schools and the betterment of our families and communities.”
