MADISON – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) released the following statement regarding the announcement by Rep. John Nygren (R-Marinette) that he will be leaving the state Assembly:

“Representative Nygren was a true leader in every sense of the word, helping navigate not just our caucus, but our state forward during his tenure here in the Assembly. His commitment to fiscal responsibility for Wisconsin taxpayers is surpassed only by his dedication to addressing the opioid crisis facing our state and country.

“Both northeast Wisconsin and I will sorely miss Rep. Nygren’s leadership, expertise, and ability to find commonalities within our caucus and across the aisle. I consider John to be a true statesman and a friend and want to take this opportunity to wish him well as he continues on to his next chapter.”
