MADISON – Wisconsin has seen a drastic increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in recent weeks. New daily cases are three times higher than they were a month ago. Governor Evers and Department of Health Services Secretary-designee Palm have said Wisconsin is in a crisis. State Representative Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) released the following statement regarding this critical point the state is at in this pandemic:

“COVID-19 remains a serious threat in Wisconsin. Our state is now one of the COVID-19 hotspots in the country. Our daily new cases set a new record over the weekend at 2,892 on Saturday. Hospital systems in parts of the state are reporting they are near capacity.

“We have to work together to stop the spread of the virus. Wear a mask when you are out in public, maintain physical distancing from people outside of your household, stay home when you can, and avoid large gatherings and events — especially indoors. If you feel sick or think you may have been exposed, please go get tested. If you get a call from a contact tracer at your local public health department, please share all your recent contacts.

“Economic recovery is impossible if we cannot contain this virus. We must all do our part and stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. My office will continue sharing pertinent information on our website and social media pages to keep our communities safe against the virus and help move towards recovery. Forward together.”
