WAUWATOSA – This week, Rep. Robyn Vining (D-Wauwatosa) signed on to a letter calling on Speaker Vos and Majority Leader Fitzgerald, Republican leadership in the Assembly and Senate, to call the legislature into session to address the challenges facing Wisconsinites due to the COVID-19 crisis. The letter describes proposals that would give relief to Wisconsin families and businesses during these challenging times, including provisions on health care, unemployment insurance, small businesses, housing and commercial real estate, and education. The letter also addresses both the April 7th election, and all subsequent 2020 elections. Rep. Vining released the following statement supporting the urgent need for the legislature to convene:

“The people of Wisconsin need action immediately. We can already see the devastating impact of COVID-19 in communities across the state. Hundreds of constituents have contacted my office with concerns for how COVID-19 has threatened their health, their families, their small businesses, and their jobs. Governor Evers and his administration have taken action, and now it’s the legislature’s turn to take action in response to this unprecedented health and economic crisis. Wisconsinites should not have to wait another day for us to act.

“In a time of unprecedented challenge facing Wisconsin, the legislature must reach out with unprecedented bipartisanship. Let’s set partisan wishlists aside, let’s reach across the aisle, and let’s swiftly get the job done for the Wisconsinites huddled in their homes waiting for action, for the first responders risking their lives for our lives, for the men and women battling on the front lines, and their families who want them to come home safely. Forward together.”
