Madison…Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) would like to announce the 16th Annual State of the Tribes address is scheduled for Tuesday, February 18 at 1 p.m. in the Wisconsin State Assembly. The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. has notified the speaker’s office that Chairman Ned Daniels, Jr. of the Forest County Potawatomi Community will be giving this year’s address.

“I’m glad we can continue this Assembly tradition,” said Speaker Vos. “The annual event increases public awareness of the issues facing the tribal nations and encourages collaboration in areas of mutual concern.”

The State of the Tribes address began in 2005. Each year the council selects a member to give the address. Constitutional officers, members of the state Supreme Court and Senate are invited to attend. Both the address and the reception that follows the speech are open to the public.
