Madison…Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) released the following statement:
“In light of the announcement that Joe Biden plans to visit Kenosha on Thursday, I’m waiting for Governor Evers and Lieutenant Governor Barnes to ask that he reconsider. The absence of a statement confirms the Governor and Lt. Governor are only interested in playing politics. Instead of worrying about political headlines, the governor should worry more about the people who are hurting and the community that is trying to heal.
“In Kenosha, President Trump gave a clear message that law and order will rule the day. He followed up those statements with significant financial assistance from the federal government. We are grateful President Trump visited with Kenosha citizens, business owners, law enforcement and local officials. We are grateful President Trump cares about the state of Wisconsin.
“I’m proud that Assembly Republicans are moving forward with a bipartisan task force that will lead the important statewide discussion on racial disparities, educational opportunities, public safety, and police policies and standards. Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke has agreed to lead the task force; additional announcements on membership will be forthcoming.”
