Madison, WI – State Representative Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego) voted to provide additional tax relief for his constituents today in the Assembly. The legislation returns over $247 million in surplus tax revenue back to the people.

“Our state’s economy continues to perform above expectations and I voted today to reduce income taxes by $106 annually for the average income tax filer.

“In addition, my colleagues and I believe it is important to buy down debt and build up our rainy day fund for continued economic success.

“Wisconsin is reaping incredible returns on our responsible fiscal management and wise economic investments over the past decade. Now is not the time to change course. Governor Evers would rather increase our future spending obligations, setting our state up for ever-increasing budgets with no end in sight. The Assembly plan is financially prudent and rewards our citizens for their hard work by giving them their money back.”

Senate Bill 821 increases the maximum individual income standard deduction by 13.2 percent. The bill continues to buy down the onerous personal property tax – an unnecessary double taxation on our state’s businesses. Finally, the legislation reduces our state’s debt by $100 million.
