Madison…Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) and Rep. Jessie Rodriguez (R-Oak Creek) want to formally thank company leaders at WPC Technologies for their efforts fighting for Wisconsin jobs. The Oak Creek company spent years challenging the unfair pricing practices by two foreign competitors and sought relief under antidumping laws. According to the company, WPC Technologies is the sole U.S. manufacturer of strontium chromate pigments for paints and primers for the aerospace and coil coating industries. Late last year, WPC Technologies received a unanimous decision from the U.S. International Trade Commission, confirming extremely low and unfair pricing by competing foreign companies.

“Not only was this decision a win for the workers employed in my district, it was a win for Wisconsin and the United States,” said Rep. Rodriguez. “I was first notified of the issue in 2018 and advocated on the company’s behalf to the International Trade Administration.”

WPC Technologies produces anti-corrosion pigments that are used in specialized markets including military applications. In 2015, the company opened an 80,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Oak Creek and at the same time, it began seeing unfair pricing practices by its international competitors. Governor Walker, Speaker Vos and Rep. Rodriguez reached out to the U.S. Department of Commerce and International Trade Commission urging their consideration of the antidumping petition that was filed with the federal agency. The resolution of the dispute came in November 2019, allowing for fair competition moving forward.

“I commend WPC Technologies for its tenacious efforts to get a favorable resolution from the federal government,” said Speaker Vos. “I’m pleased with the outcome for the company and the people who they employ.”
