MADISON– Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) released the following statement announcing an endorsement from Monona Alder Molly Grupe for her candidacy for Wisconsin’s 16th Senate District:

“Today I am proud to announce an endorsement from Alder Molly Grupe,” said Sargent. “Molly has continued to fight for what is right in Monona, and her service and hard work has been a tremendous asset to the community.”

Alder Molly Grupe has served for the Monona City Council since 2018. As alder, Molly serves on the Public Safety Committee and Sustainability Committee, where she has prioritized sustainable city operations and practices. She has continued to be part of the Friends of Monona Senior Center Board to work for a more accessible community. Molly also works as an early childhood speech-language pathologist at Waunakee Community School District.

“Melissa’s political and personal efforts in support of the organized labor movement, Wisconsin Public Schools, fair political maps and elections, and a healthy and sustainable environment speak to her willingness to defend what is right, even when it is unpopular. She works to expand and defend the rights of women and other marginalized populations at a time in which allyship and advocacy is more essential than ever. I support and endorse Melissa’s candidacy for Wisconsin’s 16th Senate District,” said Grupe. “I am so fortunate not only to call Mark Miller my Senator, but also my neighbor; I know that Melissa will work to continue the progressive and thoughtful leadership efforts that Mark has upheld throughout his many years of service to the 16th Senate District.”

“I am truly thankful to be receiving Molly’s support,” Sargent said. “Molly’s work for accessibility and sustainability in Monona as Alder has been something I’ve greatly admired.”
