MADISON– Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) released the following statement announcing an endorsement from Sharon Kilfoy for her candidacy for Wisconsin’s 16th Senate District:

“Today I am so happy to share an endorsement from Sharon Kilfoy,” said Sargent. “Sharon and I have known each other for a long time, and I am very thankful for all that she has done to promote the arts in Madison.”

Sharon Kilfoy is the Director of William Street Art Center where she has led the program for over 18 years. Kilfoy is the director and a founder of the Dane Arts Mural Arts (DAMA), a stand-alone non-profit organization helping to strengthen communities through mural-making. Under her direction, a team of seven artists have completed more than 40 murals throughout Dane County. Kilfoy also specializes in Curriculum and Program Development, Policy, Program and Grant Writing, along with Community Arts Projects, Artist-in-Residencies, and Mural Projects.

“Melissa has proven that she is a champion, fighting the good fight for peace and equality. We all know she works incredibly hard,” said Kilfoy. “I have visited Melissa at the State Capitol many times. I guarantee that when COVID-19 has passed, she will be happy to greet you there. You will be impressed with what a great listener she is, and you’ll leave the Capitol feeling better knowing that she is there representing you. I support Melissa Sargent for State Senate so that she will keep representing us with intelligence, dignity, and grace.”

“Sharon’s kind words and support truly mean a lot to me,” said Sargent. “Her community involvement and dedication to the betterment of Dane County through the arts has been of tremendous value.”
