Madison – Senator Kathy Bernier (R-Chippewa Falls) has hired Michael Luckey as Chief of Staff for her Madison office. Michael joins an experienced team of professional staff. They will support Senator Bernier in her work serving the people of the 23rd Senate District and on the following committees:

  • Elections, Election Process Reform & Ethics, Chair
  • Education, Vice-Chair
  • Agriculture & Tourism
  • Joint Committee on Finance

Michael has years of experience working in the State Assembly for the Caucus Chair, the Majority Leader, and on the Finance Committee. He was appointed in 2018 by then-Lieutenant Governor Kleefisch to lead Wisconsin’s Interagency Council on Homelessness in its first year. Michael also has an interesting tie to the 23rd Senate District: his great-great-grandfather Joseph Steinwand, from Colby, invented Colby Cheese.

“As we head into this important legislative session, with the crucial issues my committees will be tackling, I am excited to announce that my office is full and running full steam ahead,” said Senator Bernier. “I am in a strong position to continue being an impactful voice in Madison for the issues important to us all in the Chippewa Valley and beyond.”
