MADISON – Senate Democratic Leader Janet Bewley (D-Mason) released the following statement on the Governor’s Executive Order creating a Task Force on Broadband:
“The COVID-19 pandemic has magnified the problems people face when they don’t have broadband access, something residents in Northern Wisconsin know all too well. Whether it’s for jobs, education or for health and safety, we need to find a way for the citizens of rural Wisconsin to access affordable and reliable high speed internet services. For far too long the Republicans who control the legislature have refused to make the kind of investments necessary to attract public-private partnerships that can bridge the divide. I hope that Senator Marklein and Rep. Mursau will take their role on this task force seriously and convince their Republican colleagues to provide the resources that are critical to the success of businesses, students and families during these uncertain times.”
