GREEN BAY– Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) released the following statement after the Bay Area Workforce Development Board announced the appointment of a new Executive Director to replace James (Jim) Golembeski, who will be retiring at the end of this year:

“I want to take a moment to congratulate Jim on his retirement, and thank him for his nearly three decades of service with the Bay Area Workforce Development Board. I have no doubt in my mind that our region’s economy would look markedly different if it weren’t for Jim’s steady hand on the pulse of Northeast Wisconsin’s workforce. His innovative thinking brought new approaches to addressing workforce needs in our area as he helped find the right training and the right fit for thousands of displaced workers, young adults, new residents to the area, and those recently rehabilitated.

“While Jim’s well-deserved retirement leaves a hole in our region, I’m confident that his successor, Matthew Valiquette, will serve our region exceptionally well. With Matthew’s years of working with Jim, the transition should be nearly seamless. Still, Northeast Wisconsin is losing the expertise of one of the state’s most knowledgeable workforce training experts from one of our most important institutions: The Bay Area Workforce Development Board.”
