MADISON, WI – Today, Senator Dan Feyen (R-Fond du Lac) released the following statement regarding the retirement of the University of Wisconsin System President, Ray Cross.
“I want to thank President Ray Cross for his many years of service as the head of the University of Wisconsin System,” said Senator Feyen. “Over the course of his accomplished career, President Cross brought a steady hand of leadership while innovating and improving an already incredible college system.”
Ray Cross was appointed as the seventh president of the University of Wisconsin System in February of 2014. During his tenure, he oversaw the system’s two research universities as well as the State’s 11 comprehensive universities and the statewide extension. The UW System serves approximately 170,000 students annually. President Cross will be succeeded by former Governor Tommy Thompson.
“President Cross’s dedication to the UW System is unmatched and the imprint he left will be remembered. I have enjoyed our collaboration in addressing the issues faced by the UW System and I wish him the best in the next chapter of his life. Moving forward the UW System is in great hands. I am excited to continue our work improving upon our State’s universities with Governor Thompson.”
