[Juneau, WI] — Today, Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald announced the next prominent endorsement for his candidacy for Wisconsin’s Fifth Congressional District. Leah Vukmir, former Wisconsin State Senator and current Vice President of State Affairs for the National Taxpayers Union today announced her support for Scott Fitzgerald in his bid for the seat. Vukmir joins an impressive slate of Wisconsin conservatives in her support of the legislative veteran and current Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader.

“When I served with Scott Fitzgerald in the Wisconsin Senate, I saw firsthand the kind of principled conservative leadership that Scott has demonstrated as the head of the Senate Republican Caucus,” said Vukmir. “I worked hand in hand with Scott as he led the fight to pass Act 10, Right to Work, and countless other conservative reforms. I am confident that Scott will bring that same unflinching leadership and Wisconsin common sense to Washington, and be another strong conservative voice for Wisconsin’s Fifth. I’m proud to offer him my endorsement.”

“Leah Vukmir helped to bring the message of the Wisconsin Way to Washington and has been a conservative champion for the Badger State. I am so grateful to have her support for my candidacy,” said Fitzgerald. “From our days serving together in the legislature where we fought side by side to advance landmark reforms like Act 10, to her current work standing up for taxpayers, Leah is the kind of conservative ally that I am honored to have in my bid for Wisconsin’s Fifth.”

The new endorsement comes as Fitzgerald’s candidacy has maintained significant momentum since its launch. Fitzgerald quickly began lining up endorsements from an impressive slate of Wisconsin conservatives and the campaign posted robust fundraising figures in the first complete report since its launch, further cementing Fitzgerald’s strong position in his bid for the seat. Fitzgerald’s campaign has already garnered national recognition, including most recently being named as an NRCC “On the Radar” Candidate in the organization’s Young Guns Program.
