Madison, WI – Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) called on voters today to request their absentee ballots before the April 2, 2020 deadline to protect themselves, the poll workers and municipal staff on election day.

“The spring election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 7th. That day is coming fast and your vote is very important!” Marklein said. “I am urging every voter to request an absentee ballot today. Join me and many others as we protect ourselves and the poll workers in our community by voting absentee.”

“If you haven’t requested an absentee ballot before, you will have to upload – or take a picture of – your driver’s license. But then, you just vote at home and send it back to your clerk,” Marklein said. “If you have any trouble providing a picture of your ID or need a witness for your ballot, please call my office at 608-266-0703. My team will help you!”

Absentee ballots may be requested via www.myvote.wi.gov or by sending a written request to your municipal clerk. A copy of your photo ID is required for your first request both online and in writing. You can take a photo of your ID with a smartphone to upload with your online request.

Absentee ballots must be requested by April 2, 2020 and returned to your municipal clerk by election day, April 7, 2020. Ballots received after election day will not be counted.

As of 7:30 a.m. on March 27, 2020, 767,196 absentee ballots have been requested in Wisconsin with 199,274 already returned. View daily tallies on the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) website: https://elections.wi.gov
