MOUNT PLEASANT, WISCONSIN–At a press conference in Mount Pleasant, Congressman Bryan Steil earned the endorsements of key labor groups for his efforts in Congress to support workers, create jobs, and invest in Southeast Wisconsin.

The North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters (NCSRCC), the Operating Engineers Local 139, and the Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council endorsed Steil’s re-election to Congress. Steil is one of 42 Republicans in Congress that has earned the support of construction trades unions.

“I want every worker who wants a job to have a job. Workers are essential to rebuilding a strong economy and getting Wisconsin back to work. In Congress, I have fought for workers to have the training and education needed to fill jobs, grow wages, and make Southeast Wisconsin a great place to work and live. I am proud to have earned the endorsements of our carpenters, operating engineers, and laborers. I will continue fighting in Congress to support workers and provide everyone the opportunity to thrive,” said Steil.

“Steil has been a champion for Wisconsin’s skilled labor force by fighting for the issues that matter most to our members,” said Andrew Disch, Political Director of NCSRCC. “His support of our industry has positively impacted our workers and their families, and we are excited to see his continued advocacy in his next term.”

“Our members are the ones who build Wisconsin and know the importance of getting a job done right the first time – something Representative Steil understands from his time in manufacturing,” said Terry McGowan, President/Business Manager of Operating Engineers Local 139. “As we look to the future, we are looking for elected leaders, like Bryan, with the courage to embrace policies that look out for working people, not just play politics in Washington.”

“Having a leader that advocates for Wisconsin’s skilled laborers is incredibly important not just to the men and women doing the work, but for their families as well,” said John Schmitt, President/Business Manager of Wisconsin Laborers’ District Council. “Steil has shown his dedication to supporting good family-supporting jobs for Wisconsin workers.”
