New U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Minocqua, warned GOP activists the Dem Party is being taken over by socialists who want to tear apart the country.
Tiffany, who won a May 12 special election over Dem Tricia Zunker and faces her again in November, said the Republican Party was created in the mid-1800s to “form a more perfect union.”
But he said protesters like those in Seattle are “the modern-day secessionists.”
He also pointed to a protest in Madison that turned violent with state Sen. Tim Carpenter, D-Milwaukee, attacked after he took pictures. Tiffany said Carpenter wasn’t supposed to be targeted by protesters.
“The mob doesn’t care. They want to tear America apart,” Tiffany said.
