The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today announced a new TV ad praising 7th CD GOP candidate Tom Tiffany for supporting the timber industry.

The group said the ad will run on broadcast TV in Wausau and on cable across the northern Wisconsin district. The group said it is a “substantial six-figure” buy, but declined to provide additional details.

The ad doesn’t mention the Minocqua Republican’s candidacy for Congress or the upcoming Feb. 18 primary in which he faces Jason Church, a former aide to U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson and a retired Army captain.

The narrator says Tiffany in the state Senate “fought tirelessly against job-killing regulations and is leading the charge to fix transportation issues that threaten the timber industry’s future.”

The spot concludes with the narrator urging viewers to call Tiffany and ask him to “keep fighting” for SB 404, legislation he introduced this session. The bill would allow the Department of Transportation to issue permits for vehicles with six or more axles to exceed maximum gross weight limits on some roads by up to 11,000 pounds.
