MARINETTE, WI — Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) today released the following statement after President Trump concluded his visit to Fincantieri Marinette Marine. The President’s visit comes after an announcement earlier this year that the shipyard was awarded a contract to build the Navy’s new frigate. If all options are exercised on the contract, it will deliver the first ten FFG (X) ships for a total of more than $5.5 billion.

“Today, President Trump saw firsthand the hard work and unparalleled skill of the workforce at Fincantieri Marinette Marine. Under his leadership, the United States is committed to rebuilding our Navy, and this visit makes clear he understands the important role the men and women in Marinette will play in helping the country achieve that goal. Our work here is just beginning, and I have no doubt that just as the President delivered on his promise to Marinette, Marinette will deliver on its promise to build the best ships in the world.”
