(Fond du Lac, Wis.) – Today, Congressman Glenn Grothman (WI-06) released the following statement on the rioting and destruction in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

“I have been saddened, but no longer shocked, by what has happened in Kenosha over the last few nights,” said Grothman. “While we have seen real examples of police violence and brutality, we have also seen examples of police confrontations in which officers have been vilified and judged guilty before all of the facts have come in. I am very disappointed in elected officials and celebrities who have been quick to convict law enforcement in the court of public opinion while knowing minimal information about the situation. If an individual, in any situation, commits a crime, justice should and will be carried out by the American judicial system. Regardless of what happens, there is no reason that business owners should suffer damages for something they were not involved in and cannot control. I hope in the future, people who feel that destroying other people’s property as a way to enact change will start with their own property, rather than innocent families and business owners.”
