La Crosse, WI —Today, Rep. Ron Kind urged Wisconsinites to respond to the 2020 Census. After a ruling by the United States Supreme Court, the deadline to complete the 2020 Census is tomorrow, October 15, 2020. Wisconsinites should visit 2020census.gov to complete their Census.

“I strongly encourage all Wisconsinites to respond to the 2020 Census as soon as possible as the deadline is tomorrow, October 15,” said Rep. Ron Kind. “Census data shapes our communities, from small business development to school lunches to construction projects, and determines how billions of dollars in federal funding is allocated. With the deadline right around the corner, be sure to fill out the 2020 Census to support our communities and make your voice heard.”

Every 10 years, the census is conducted to calculate the total number of people living in the United States. The information gathered is used to make decisions about what community services are needed, and distributing federal funds to local, state and tribal governments.

In November 2019, Rep. Kind voted for legislation that provided an additional $7.28 billion for the Census Bureau to carry out operations for the 2020 Census. The Census Bureau plays a critical role in collecting a wide array of demographic and economic data that helps provide insight into the population of the U.S. that helps guide federal, state, and local business decisions.
