The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has launched a portal to allow individuals who don’t typically file a federal tax return to quickly register to receive an economic impact payment (EIP), cash payments Congress authorized to reduce the financial burden of the coronavirus. In response, Congresswoman Moore released the following statement:
“The financial relief that comes from receiving an EIP can make all the difference. I want to ensure that every Milwaukee resident receives the EIP they are qualified to receive. If you are a US citizen or permanent resident who did not file a tax return in 2018 and did not have a filing obligation in 2019, I encourage you to submit your information through the IRS portal by October 15th.”
