JANESVILLE, WISCONSIN—Bryan Steil led members of the Wisconsin congressional delegation urging Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers for additional information on Wisconsin’s CARES Act funding. You can read their letter to Governor Evers here.

Last month, following the release of a U.S. Treasury Department report, Steil asked Governor Evers to clarify why, according to the report, 3.8% of nearly $2 billion in federal funds from the CARES Act had been spent. Governor Evers provided a response to Steil, but questions remain as to where the state has obligated funds and where the state has spent funds.

“Workers are still out of work, families are still struggling, and testing supplies are still needed. I am working to support our communities and ensure everyone who needs a test has access to one. We should be addressing the needs of our state now, when Wisconsinites need it most. I supported the CARES Act to provide much needed relief. It is important we have clear, up-to-date information on where CARES Act dollars have been spent and how the state intends to spend remaining funds. More transparency is a good thing. I will continue working to ensure we have testing and resources to bring back jobs and keep Wisconsin healthy,” said Steil.
