HAGER CITY, WI – September 18th is National POW/MIA Recognition Day, an observance that has a profound impact on Derrick Van Orden, a 26 year Navy veteran.
During his military service, Derrick was a member of the Joint Task Force – Full Accounting (JTF-FA), a sub-division of the Department of Defense tasked with accounting for all Americans listed as Prisoners of War (POW) or Missing In Action (MIA) during foreign conflicts. During his time with the JTF-FA, Derrick spent time in Vietnam working to locate and extract POW/MIA remains.
Derrick released the following statement to observe POW/MIA Recognition Day:
“I was so proud to help and close a chapter in our nation’s history by helping locate and repatriate the remains of our servicemen who died defending our freedoms. I wish Peace for their families. They are Never Forgotten.”
