Today, Tuesday, August 4, 2020, Voces de la Frontera Action announces our third and final round of candidate endorsements for the upcoming Wisconsin elections on August 11th.

We are excited to make our second endorsement for Green Bay: Jonathon Hansen for 30th District State Senator.

As an Alderman on the De Pere City Council, Hansen has worked with local grassroots organizations and members of the community to improve the quality of life in Green Bay. He firmly supports pro-immigrant and pro-worker policies, such as the expansion of BadgerCare and Medicaid to all Wisconsinites regardless of immigration status and the creation of a state unemployment fund for undocumented workers and mixed immigration status families.

We are confident that, if elected, Hansen will champion immigrant and workers rights. “It is our duty as elected representatives to listen to the experiences of those who have been affected by immigration policies and work together with immigrant communities to ensure their voices are being heard,” he said. “We must restructure our current immigration system to better serve our communities.”

As we said when we endorsed Kristina Shelton for 90th District State Representative in Green Bay last week, Hansen’s district is part of the must-win Senate District 30 which has about 10% Latinx population. We will work hard to make sure we deliver this key area by mobilizing Latinx, multiracial youth, and pro-immigrant rural supporters.

Jonathon Hansen will continue the proud pro-worker, pro-immigrant legacy of his uncle Senator Dave Hansen who is retiring. Our Green Bay chapter of Voces de la Frontera Action is organizing hard the Latinx and multiracial youth vote in this part of Wisconsin to help deliver the votes necessary to win changes in Wisconsin that help working people and the unemployed and challenge the politics of divide and conquer.

We encourage our Voces members to get involved in this critical time for our country and our nation. Spread the word about the endorsements. Use your vote on August 11th to uplift our communities and change Wisconsin for the better! And if you would like to be a part of our efforts to mobilize the Latinx vote in Wisconsin, become a Voces member today by clicking on this link or shooting us an email at membership@vdlf.org.
