(Milwaukee, Wisconsin) — In the wake of a historic turnout of Latinx and people of color voters, Voces de la Frontera Action joins the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) network in a national week of action with more than 50 organized planned events as part of the “Freedom Together” campaign. Voces de la Frontera Action, Wisconsin’s largest grassroots Latinx organization, is leading the Wisconsin campaign with a series of virtual and in-person events from Monday, December 14, 2020, until Friday, December 18, 2020 (see full schedule below).

The “Freedom Together” campaign calls on President-Elect Biden to deliver on his promises to Black and Brown voters for humane solutions to immigrant and racial injustice. Click here to see the full description of the “Freedom Together” campaign including our demands on our website.

“Biden has promised to advocate for our Black and Brown communities in the first 100 days of office, and this election people of color were decisive in delivering that victory,” said Christine Neumann-Ortiz, Executive Director of Voces de la Frontera Action. “In Wisconsin, Voces de la Frontera Action will draw on our statewide network of Latinx, immigrant, multiracial and youth voters to hold the Biden Administration and our US congressional representatives accountable.”

This week’s actions will educate and empower voters by giving them tools to hold the Biden Administration and their local congressional officials accountable to meet the “Freedom Campaign” three core demands: (1) Citizenship for the 11 million undocumented, and a halt to deportations until such a bill is achieved. (2) Relief and Recovery from economic hardship during COVID-19 for all, in a federal pandemic relief bill, including immigrant workers and mixed-immigration status families. (3) Abolishment of policies that criminalize Black, Brown, Latinx, and immigrant people. This includes repealing Trump’s harmful orders, ending collaboration between ICE and local law enforcement, abolishing the for-profit prison and detention center systems, restoring human rights laws for refugees and asylum seekers, and repealing the Muslim ban.

Mike Gallagher to support the demands of the “Freedom Together” campaign.
