MADISON – Senate President Roger Roth (R-Appleton) delivered the weekly Republican radio address.

This week marked a truly a historic moment in the State Capitol because we had the honor of being joined by the 70th United States Secretary of State, Michael Pompeo.

Never before in the history of our state has a Secretary of State taken the time to come to our state Capitol to interact with leaders.

The purpose of the Secretary’s visit was for a discussion on foreign policy, specifically as it relates to China.

Here in Wisconsin, we are the 19th largest state exporter of goods in our country – totaling $22.7 billion in Made-in-America goods to the world. Of that, China is now our third largest trading partner.

And as Secretary Pompeo stated in his remarks, “telling the truth about China isn’t remotely partisan; it’s principled.”

On behalf of the Wisconsin State Legislature, I express our sincerest thanks to Secretary Pompeo for listening to Wisconsin.
