MADISON – The following statement can be attributed to Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation President Joe Bragger:

“Livestock facility siting impacts many farmers in Wisconsin. Our farm families need certainty and predictability for future growth of their livestock facilities and the siting process as a whole.

This legislation provides a balance for farmers and local units of government. It will increase certainty for farmers in regard to fees and timelines and will relieve some regulatory burdens on local governments.

We are pleased to see that this legislation allows opportunities for farmers and their neighbors to work together.

Wisconsin Farm Bureau would like to thank Senator Howard Marklein and Representative Travis Tranel for inviting our organization to provide input on this bill along with the Dairy Business Association, Wisconsin Association of Professional Agricultural Consultants, Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association, Wisconsin Counties Association, Wisconsin Dairy Alliance, Wisconsin Pork Association and the Wisconsin Towns Association.

We encourage our State Assembly, Senate and Governor to support this legislation as a means to provide certainty and predictability for Wisconsin farm families.”
