MADISON – The core services Wisconsin’s 267 local chambers of commerce offer their members vary from city to town to village. But whether they focus on advocacy, tourism, economic development, entrepreneurship, young professionals, workforce or organizing community events, they all play an important role in our state that should be recognized.
That is why Gov. Tony Evers has proclaimed September as Chambers of Commerce Month in Wisconsin. Evers made the proclamation at the request of the Wisconsin Chambers of Commerce Executives (WCCE), a division of the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) – the state chamber that offers professional development and advocacy for local chambers of commerce.
“Local communities and businesses throughout Wisconsin have faced countless challenges this year,” said Suzanne Kelley, Waukesha County Business Alliance President & CEO and WCCE Advisory Board Chair. “Chambers of Commerce across the state have stepped up to provide assistance to their members. Whether that is through advocacy, providing up-to-date information or literally a helping hand when needed, local chambers are crucial to our business community and we are excited to celebrate the work they do all month.”
Chambers will commemorate Chamber of Commerce Month with a variety of virtual activities, social media campaigns and outreach to their members. Additionally, WCCE will host four virtual meetings for local chambers during the month on a variety of topics including the economy, upcoming elections, legislative priorities and more.
Three Chambers from Milwaukee, Green Bay and Racine will kick off Chamber of Commerce Month with a webinar for WCCE and WMC members on Wednesday and other celebrations will happen throughout the month of September.
