(WISCONSIN) — In response to Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue’s visit to Wisconsin, Wisconsin Farmers Union President Darin Von Ruden released the following statement:

“As a dairy farmer and someone who represents farmers of all political backgrounds, I can tell you that all of us are hurting and none of us ‘are over the hump,’ as Trump erroneously claimed in 2019, nor are we ‘whiners,’ as Secretary Perdue once joked. Since Trump took office, over 2,350 dairy farms have closed their doors forever, Wisconsin continues to lead the nation in farm bankruptcies, and the local economies we support are bearing the brunt of Trump’s failure to deliver on his promises. His chaotic trade wars resulted in bogus deals that did virtually nothing for us as we lost trading markets that took decades to create. Now, during a pandemic, he’s attacking our health care. It’s clear Trump has only ever seen us as political pawns, and if we want to return to prosperity, we must elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House on November 3rd.”
