(WISCONSIN) — DPW Chair Ben Wikler interviewed Sen. Tammy Baldwin this week about the Supreme Court decision barring discrimination against LGBTQ workers, the inspiring protests across the country sparked by the murder of George Floyd, and the state of Wisconsin’s economy under Trump. Sen. Baldwin underscored the fact that the Trump administration gutted Wisconsin’s economy before COVID-19 even arrived, and their failed response to the pandemic has only further left behind hard-working Wisconsinites across the state.

Senator Tammy Baldwin is calling for more transparency from the Trump administration during the pandemic.
The senator joined Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler for a virtual Q&A Wednesday evening on the economy.
Baldwin says she has spoken with many Wisconsin farmers and business owners who have tried to receive funds from the Paycheck Protection Program, may of which struggled to apply in the first place.
“Apparently the application is so complicated that people are returning the money instead of completing the application, and we’re trying to get the SBA (Small Business Administration) to certainly simplify that.”
Sen. Baldwin did say that the second round of small business loans has gone smoother for small business owners.
Baldwin also took some time Wednesday evening to tout fellow democrat Joe Biden.
She says the country needs a steady leader at the helm.
“President Obama tasked Joe Biden with running the Recovery and Reinvestment Act,” Baldwin said. “As we know, that led us to one of the longest uninterrupted time of economic growth in our nation’s history.”
Baldwin was referring to the last economic crisis the country faced back in 2008.
She says Biden will be able to lead the country out of the pandemic safely and fairly.
