MADISON, Wis.—Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers directed $8 million to Wisconsin’s technical colleges to partially defray their COVID-19 pandemic-related expenses.
In addition to quickly adapting their operations to assure student success and a steady flow of skilled health care graduates, first responders and other essential workers, Wisconsin’s 16 technical colleges efficiently transferred invaluable equipment and supplies to health care facilities and first responders and opened their doors in support of local public health agencies and first responders.
Statement from WTCS President Dr. Morna K. Foy:
“We appreciate Governor Evers’ recognition of technical colleges’ extraordinary efforts to maintain Wisconsin’s essential workforce while managing significant, unanticipated pandemic-related costs. As our colleges transitioned staff and students to a virtual environment and swiftly established health and safety protocols for those remaining on campus, and as they plan to further expand face-to-face instruction in the fall, these funds will bolster technical college efforts to continue meeting the ever-changing needs of students and employers.”
