Wausau, WI – WI-07 Democratic candidate Tricia Zunker (Ho-Chunk) will serve as a panelist in a virtual talking circle with Native women leaders in the Midwest, including Minnesota Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, today. Topics that will be addressed focus on challenges in Native communities, including healthcare disparities, the missing and murdered Indigenous women crisis, environmental justice issues, and the inclusion of Native women’s voices in shaping policy. This virtual event is open to the public from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm.
“As Indigenous female leaders, we occupy positions that our relatives were not allowed to hold and we have an opportunity to use our voices to effectuate necessary change. There is an obligation and a duty that comes with this opportunity, not just to advocate for Indigenous communities, but for everyone,” said Zunker.
